The NETWORK OF EXECUTIVE WOMEN IN HOSPITALITY, Inc. is a non-profit founded in 1984 by several women who shared a common bond through their work in hospitality design. Los Angeles had become a leader in interior space design for hotels, motels, resorts, restaurants, cruise ships, and other properties that catered to travelers. Yet there was a common feeling among women working in the hospitality design field that, although some women had “made it” professionally, women were generally not fully accepted. They developed the idea that those with established careers could lend their support and share their experiences with some younger women entering the field. This idea of women helping women formed the basis for the establishment of the organization.
